An 80-year old woman was killed in a head-on collision in Calloway County Friday morning.
State police report a preliminary investigation shows Mary Cole of New Concord was driving northbound on KY 121 when, for an unknown reason, a southbound SUV driven by 39-year old Shannon Jarvis of New Concord crossed into the northbound lane. Police say it appears Cole attempted to avoid the collision and moved to the shoulder of the road but the SUV crashed head-on into her car.
Cole was pronounced dead at the scene by the Calloway County Coroner and Jarvis was transported by ambulance to the Murray-Calloway County Hospital. Police say Jarvis was later flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
Kentucky State Police reconstructionists are continuing to investigate the fatal crash.
