Bike Rentals Available At Sportsplex And Visitors Bureau

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library announced Friday new partnerships that will provide bike rentals at the Sportsplex on Tilley Way and the Visitors Center on East 9th Street.

Library Executive Director DeeAnna Sova says this partnership provides an excellent opportunity to expand the library’s Book-A-Bike Program within Hopkinsville and will provide an inexpensive opportunity to increase the health of the community as well as get people moving all across Hopkinsville.

This is the third year for the book-a-bike program at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library, which was funded by the Indian Physician Alliance Community (IPACS) in an effort to provide bicycles as a resource for a healthier community. Officials say the program provides bike rentals for $5 for riders with a library card and $10 for riders without a library card. Bikes are available for all ages in three sizes for children, youth, and adults and include helmets. Officials note children under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and bikes can be rented for the day and returned one hour before closing time at the facility in which they were rented.

Visitors Bureau Executive Director Brooke Jung says they are excited to partner with the public library on this awesome initiative. She adds it will give visitors and residents an opportunity to see the community from a whole different angle. She says the Visitors Center is open seven days a week and she hopes guest will stop by and take advantage of a fun way to explore Hoptown on two wheels.

Brooke’s husband and Sportsplex Marketing & Events Coordinator Chris Jung says he is also thrilled to be a Book-A-Bike partner and remaining consistent in the spirit of encouraging an active community. He says adding an outdoor fitness component to their indoor facility is something they are very excited about.

Officials say the public library continues to see increases across the board in patron attendance, program attendance, and resource circulation. They say partnering with other organizations is the library’s ongoing outreach effort to create opportunities for everyone in the community.
