A new show has debuted at the Golden Pond Planetarium in Land Between the Lakes.
The Friends of Land Between the Lakes (LBL) Director of Outreach and Sustainability Jennifer Wheatley recently announced the Planetarium in the Golden Pond Visitor Center will be adding the program, entitled ‘Explore’, to the daily programming schedule. The new program, which is an odyssey to the planet of Mars, seen through a lens of human history and scientific development, has been in the making for three years debuted Friday. She says the show skillfully illustrates ancient astronomy and the motions of celestial objects that fascinated Johannes Kepler.
Wheatley notes the purchase of the program was made possible through grants from the Rotary International District 6710 of western Kentucky. The four area Rotary Clubs that participated include Paducah, Cadiz, Hopkinsville, and Mayfield.
The Golden Pond Planetarium offers a variety of educational and entertaining shows about the wonders of space and earth science to close to 30,000 visitors each year, many of which are school children.
