EXE Shelter To Open During Dangerous Freezing Weather

The City of Hopkinsville along with the Salvation Army is launching a program to help provide a warm shelter for anyone in need when the temperature is expected to get dangerously below freezing.

Alisha Barton with the Salvation Army in Hopkinsville says the Extreme Weather Event shelter will be in place on nights when the temperature dips below 15 degrees.

It will cost around $200 each night of the temporary shelter’s operation. Anyone interested in helping out the Extreme Weather Event shelter can make a tax-deductible donation to the Salvation Army located at 304 East 7th Street in downtown Hopkinsville.

Barton was the guest speaker during the Hopkinsville Kiwanis meeting Thursday afternoon.
