
A Hopkinsville man was arrested early Sunday morning after he led police on a vehicle and foot pursuit before he was caught.
According to Hopkinsville Police 30-year-old Benjamin Murry of Hopkinsville was arrested and charged for Fleeing and Evading Police in a vehicle and on foot, DUI, Driving with a DUI Suspended License, Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of a Handgun, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Possession of Cocaine and Wanton Endangerment, 1st degree. He was arrested at 4:30 in front of 2802 South Virginia Street.
Police were dispatched to 305 Pardue Lane in reference to Murry being there with a handgun. When officers arrived, Murray was attempting to back out of the driveway. When he saw police, he began to drive forward at a high rate of speed. His vehicle came to an abrupt stop at the end of the driveway and Murry jumped out, fled on foot and left a child inside the vehicle. Police chased Murry through a number of yards on Kenwood Drive and were able to take him into custody in front of 2802 South Virginia. When police backtracked, they located two handguns, one of which was reported stolen earlier this year.
Murry was lodged in Christian County Jail.
