Two Escape Madisonville House Fire, Firefighter Injured

Two occupants were able to escape an early morning house fire in Madisonville but a firefighter was injured while battling the blaze.

According to Madisonville Police, a passerby called 911 around 2:50 Friday morning to report a fire at 164 Murray Street. Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found the house fully engulfed and battled the blaze for over an hour before bringing it under control.

Police say the occupants, 21-year old Alexander Morse, and his grandmother 66-year old Cheryl Redd were asleep when the fire started in the rear portion of the home. They were able to escape the residence without injuries., but a firefighter was injured from falling debris and was transported by ambulance to the emergency room at Baptist Health for non-life threatening injuries.

Police report the occupants were displaced due to heavy water, smoke and fire damage to the home.
