A call about a reckless driver on Hopkinsville Road in Trigg County led to the arrest of a Cadiz man for his second DUI.
According to the police report, the caller stated the vehicle was swerving badly and nearly ran off the road multiple times while traveling westbound on Hopkinsville Road from the Interstate 24 area. The caller also said the driver hit multiple barrels in the construction zone near the intersection of Main Street, and then hit an implement in front of King’s Auto Sales on Main Street before he turned down Cunningham Avenue.
Officers say they saw the driver, later identified as 67-year old Randy Wallis, on Cunningham Avenue where he ran off the road into residential yards multiple times. Cadiz Police say the vehicle was stopped in the 160 block of Cunningham Avenue and Wallis stated he didn’t know anything about hitting any barrels or an implement at the car lot. Police indicate Wallis’ vehicle had damage on the right side of his vehicle consistent with the damage reported by the caller. Police add Wallis was too intoxicated to perform some of the field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
Wallis was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with DUI 2nd offense, reckless driving, speeding, and other offenses.
