
Authorities are investigating three suspicious fires in Madisonville that occurred between late Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Madisonville Police reports officers and the Madisonville Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 10:15 Wednesday night in an unoccupied residence at 409 Park Row. Police officers were the first to arrive on the scene and found a fire on the front porch that was expanding. Firefighters arrived on the scene and were able to get the fire under control, but not before police say the home received heavy damage.
Around 3:45 Thursday morning, a second fire was reported at an unoccupied fireworks stand at the corner of South main Street and East McLaughlin Avenue. Upon arrival of officers and firefighters, police say the large tent was fully engulfed and fireworks were exploding around the tent making fire suppression efforts extremely dangerous. While units were battling the blaze at the tent, police indicate a third fire was reported at 4:35 a.m. at another fireworks stand adjacent to the Market Place on South Main Street. Firefighters responded and quickly brought the third fire under control with minimal damage reported to the unoccupied tent.
Police say all three of these fire are suspicious in nature and are currently begin investigated as possible arsons.
Madisonville Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying those responsible for the fires. Tips can be called in to the Crime Stoppers of Hopkins County Tip Line at (270) 825-1111. They say cash rewards can be paid out for tips leading to the arrest of the persons responsible for any of these fires.
