A Hopkinsville man was arrested Sunday afternoon on a warrant for violating his EPO after he allegedly made over 1,700 telephone calls to a female victim.
Hopkinsville Police say officers went to a home in the 100 block of Woodbine Street to locate 37-year old Jason Mayton in order to serve a warrant. Upon arrival, officers knocked on the door and reported they could see an adult through the open blinds, but the male didn’t come to the door and walked out of the room. Police say they also observed an infant through the window and could smell an odor of marijuana.
The report says officers were able to make entry into the residence by using a key from the landlord. Once inside, police say two individuals advised officers Mayton held them against their will by placing his body in front of the bedroom door and would not let them leave.
Mayton was arrested and lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with two counts of 2nd Degree Unlawful Imprisonment. He was also served a warrant with underlying charges of 3rd Degree Terroristic Threatening, Harassing Communications, and two counts of Violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO after he allegedly threatened to kill a female victim on March 2 and then held a knife to his own throat and made a small cut. The warrant also says Mayton made over 1,700 telephone calls to the female victim and violated the EPO by calling and texting the victim after service of the protective order.
