Ten headstones were dedicated Saturday afternoon in honor of revolutionary-era patriots whose graves were previously lost to antiquity. A dedication ceremony was held at the Cadiz Welcome Garden by the Colonel Stephen Trigg Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

The dedication was the product of over four years of searching and researching by the chapter, which was organized in 2011. Three years after its founding members began searching for patriot’s final resting places, according to Kentucky Society SAR President Geoff Baggett.
Baggett says they want to ensure those men are remembered and adds the organization raised the funds to have headstones marked and placed in their honor. Each of the stones denotes a patriot’s name, documented lifespan, and their status of service. Some of the names bear biographical connections to Christian and Trigg counties like William Armstrong, for example.

Baggett says there are likely others as well.
