A Madisonville Police sergeant was recognized by the Kentucky State Legislature this week for his lifesaving efforts on a 10-year old child. According to the Madisonville Police Department, Sergeant Justin Jones was on his way to work on December 8, 2017 when he heard a call where a child was unresponsive and not breathing. Sgt. Jones immediately started CPR on the young victim and a short time later when the Medical Center Ambulance arrived, they were stuck in a construction zone and could not get to the residence. Jones immediately picked up the young child and ran approximately 100 yards to the ambulance. The boy was transported to the hospital and was eventually lifeflighted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville where he made a complete recovery. Police say the medical staff credited the recovery of the boy to Jones’ quick action and lifesaving care.
