A 21-year old Hopkinsville woman has been arrested on a warrant for reportedly stealing a vehicle. Michaela Stanton was taken into custody by Hopkinsville Police in the 900 block of East 21st Street just before 6:00 Friday night.
The Arrest Warrant states Stanton took a 2011 Chevy Mailbu belonging to the victim on June 5, 2017, without any authority or permission. Police indicate the victim’s mother saw Stanton driving the vehicle out of the driveway. The vehicle, valued at $6,000, was recovered several days later on Greenville Road with substantial damage. Police say the damages to the vehicle totaled approximately $3,000.
The warrant states the victim had only recently met Stanton and only knew her first name, but was eventually able to identify her through Facebook.
Stanton was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with Theft By Unlawful Taking – Auto $500 or More But Under $10,000, and 1st Degree Criminal Mischief.
