Nortonville Woman Charged With Meth Trafficking

An investigation into meth trafficking led to the arrest of a Nortonville woman Wednesday. The Madisonville/Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit reports the investigation into illegal drug trafficking began in 2016 involving 37-year old Heather Baxter. Police say a search warrant was executed at her residence on Chestnut Street in Nortonville and a Victory Street in Morton’s Gap. During the search, officers reportedly seized approximately two ounces of crystal meth, paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking and a large amount of cash.

The investigation then led officers to another home on Morton’s Gap Road where police say they found 40-year old Derrick Fugate and 42-year old Steven Denney, who were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Baxter was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail charged with four counts of 1st Degree Trafficking a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine Over 2 Grams. Fugate was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail on the outstanding warrants for Failure to Appear and a Parole Violation Warrant, and Denney was booked into the jail on outstanding warrants for Criminal Mischief and Criminal Trespassing.
