Due to the extreme cold temperatures forecast for the next few days, a warming center will be opening at 6:00 pm Thursday evening on December 22 at The Way, 197 Lafayette Street, in Cadiz. Contact phone numbers are 270-498-1933 and 270-302-8620.


Calvary Baptist Church, on Rockcastle Road, in Trigg County, will have the fellowship hall available to anyone who needs a place to warm up during this extreme cold weather.

Christian County Emergency Management has announced locations of warming shelters that will be available throughout the weekend.

– The Salvation Army Soup Kitchen located at 313 East 7th Street in Hopkinsville will be open as a warming shelter tonight through Sunday night, December 22-25th from 7 PM to 7 AM. This is in addition to their normal shelter and kitchen hours.

– Coffee Connection located at 910 South Main Street in Hopkinsville will be open Thursday and Friday, December 22nd and 23rd from 8 AM to 3 PM, and Sunday, December 25th from 9 AM to 4 PM.

In the event of power outages, several Volunteer Fire Departments and other locations throughout the county have agreed to open as Emergency Warming Stations:

– Fairview Fire Department 10920 Jefferson Davis Hwy
– Lafayette Fire Department 300 White Street
– Northwest Fire Department 7812 Pool Mill Rd
– Pembroke Fire Department 118 Maple Street
– Westside Fire Department 115 Spain Lane


Caldwell County Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin has announced the Caldwell County Courthouse will be used as a warming center from Thursday afternoon through Monday. Residents are encouraged, if in need, to call Central Dispatch at 270-365-7860. Dispatch will direct residents on whether the Courthouse is currently open for warming, and if not they will make arrangements for you. McCaslin assures Caldwell County residents, if the need arises, they will open additional warming centers.


Lyon County Convention Center will be a warming center in the event of a power outage. Eddyville First Baptist, Lamasco Baptist Church, and Kuttawa First Baptist Church will be warming centers from noon Thursday until Friday at noon (longer if needed) if anyone needs a warm place to go.

Lee S. Jones Convention Center will be a warming center as well in the event of a major power outage/emergency.


Todd County Emergency Management is making plans to have warming centers available at several locations across the county during the day on Friday. We are also preparing to open an overnight shelter for Friday night if needed. If you need help during this weather event please call Todd Co Dispatch at 270-265-2501.


Crittenden County Courthouse in Marion, the Court Street entrance, will remain open from Thursday evening through Monday morning. This will enable anyone who needs to utilize it as a warming shelter to have access.
