Silver Bells, Silver Screen, Christmas Comes To Hopkinsville

With a movie theme and a former Congressman as grand marshal, Hopkinsville is hoping this year's Christmas parade will out shine previous years. Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman says the theme for the Hopkinsville Electric System Night Christmas Parade will be "Christmas on the Silver Screen."

The grand marshal will be former Kentucky U.S. Representative Ed Whitfield.

It will be the second year for a night parade and the Annual Holiday Celebration.

This year will feature the HES Grand Champion and the People’s Choice Award sponsored by WKDZ/WHVO. Any businesses interested in sponsoring additional awards should contact Parks and Rec. Officials say up to five additional cash float awards will be added.

December 9th will be a day filled with holiday cheer, starting with the all-day Christmas Market on the Square and Dickens Alley once again. Pennyroyal Arts Council Director, Maraget Primm says they are always excited to partner with the Museums of Christian County to host Christmas events.

Following the parade, the community Christmas Tree will be lit. The day's events will conclude with The Polar Express movie at the Alhambra Theatre.
