2 Hopkinsville City Councilmen Seeking Re-Election

Two more councilmen are seeking re-election and one person has withdrawn from seeking a seat on Hopkinsville City Council.

Ward 7 Democrat incumbent Terry Parker and Ward 8 Republican incumbent Tom Johnson officially filed their paperwork at the Christian County Clerk’s Office Tuesday morning.

Parker, who is a retired Hopkinsville Police officer, and small business owner, has served on City council since 2015. He currently serves on a number of boards including the Emergency Communications Center Board, the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council, Christian County Weather Spotters Board, and he serves as chairman of the Hopkinsville City Council’s Committee of the whole. He is also active with several groups in Christian County.

Johnson is in his first term on City Council. He is retired from the U.S. Army in 2013 after 30-years of decorated service and has a background in Maintenance and Logistics. He has worked the last 17-years on Fort Campbell and currently works as a Warehouse Manager. Johnson also serves on the Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority Board, Christian County Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee Advisory Board, the Hopkinsville-Christian County Airport Board, and Pennyrile Solid Waste Management Authority.

And Democrat candidate Caratha Bucker, who filed December 23 to run for the Ward 9 seat currently held by Patricia Bell, filed Tuesday morning to withdrawal as a candidate in the upcoming 2020 election.
