UPDATE-High Winds Cause Damages In Christian, Todd (w/photos)

Strong to severe storms packing winds in excess of 40 to 60 miles per hour pushed through the area Saturday afternoon causing power outages, downed trees, and other damages in Christian, Todd and Trigg counties.

Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham tells the News Edge the line of strong winds caused widespread damages to trees and a structure.

Pennyrile Electric spokesman Brent Gilkey says they have multiple power outages across the area and are still assessing a lot of the damage.

He says they will have crews out making repairs until all power has been restored. He reiterates they want everyone to be prepared for long outages this weekend.

The News Edge has also received a report of damage at MB Roland, which  caused the Max’s Hope event to be canceled that was scheduled for Saturday night.

In Trigg County, Emergency Management Director David Bryant says the only damage reported is a tree fell on a house in the 200 block of Hillstop Street off of West End.

In Todd County, Emergency Management Director Daniel Smith tells the News Edge there are multiple roads blocked by downed trees, downed powerlines and scattered structural damage. He says two houses and several barns had minor to major damage. At this time, he says one person had minor injuries.

In addition. Trenton Fire Chief John Stahl tells the News Highway 41 is blocked due to down powerlines and poles between Pembroke and Trenton. Detours have been set up.

 

Todd County officials are also reporting the City of Trenton is closed due to Hwy 41 and Cemetery Road is impassable. 104 North at the railroad is one lane. If you were planning to travel to or through the City of Trenton, officials are asking you to please take an alternate route At this time, officials say there will be no through traffic in Trenton.

The line of strong to severe storms moved into the area after 2:00 Saturday afternoon, prompting severe thunderstorm warnings to be issued in the counties of Stewart and Montgomery in Tennessee and Christian and Todd in Kentucky.

There were no injuries reported in Christian County.
