The Christian County School District is celebrating the results of the new school accountability system that show all schools exited federal improvement classifications for the 2018-2019 school year. Officials say this the first time in a few years none of the schools in the district have been labeled with any state or federal improvement classifications.
District Assessment Coordinator Tracey Leath says this year’s Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress (KPREP) accountability results for schools and districts (by level) were based on an overall score and star rating.

She adds several schools had three-star ratings and overall the district received two stars for each level.

Leath also congratulated Martin Luther King Elementary and Freedom Elementary schools for no longer being labeled as federal improvement classifications.

In addition, she says seven schools exited TSI status.

A breakdown of the district’s overall score for elementary schools was 58.1, middle schools 57.8 and high schools 57.3. Because scores vary by the different levels, Leath says they are not comparable.
While the data shows there are still areas of improvement, Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill says overall she is proud of the work of the staff and students of Christian County.
