Three pets were killed when a home suffered major fire damage Wednesday morning.
Princeton Fire Chief Brent Francis says that crews responded to reports of heavy smoke at 809 Old Madisonville Road just after 8:00 a.m. He adds that once crews arrived on scene the blaze had fully engulfed two rooms in the back of the home and had spread into the attic.
Chief Francis noted that firefighters battled the flames for just under two hours.
He also stated that no one was in the residence at the time of the fire but three dogs that were inside the home perished. Chief Francis explained that once neighbors called in the fire and Princeton Police officers arrived on scene the smoke and flames were too far advanced to attempt recovery.
While the fire is believed to have started in the kitchen the cause is unknown.
