Trigg Countians Gather For Annual Memorial Day Service

Approximately 30 community and family members gathered at the Trigg County Justice Center Monday morning for the annual Memorial Day Service hosted by the James Thomas Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution.

Former Seaman of the United States Navy Tiffany Alexander-Humphries, who served from 1995 to 1997, was one of the guest speakers and talked about how proud she was to serve this great nation.

She also shared several quotes appropriate for Memorial Day.

Following Alexander-Humphries’ remarks, retired Master Sargent of the United States Army, Karl Johnson, who has several military medals, also spoke continuing to remind Americans about those who died for our freedoms.

He then quoted General Patton and said Memorial Day is a special day to remember those who lived.

Trigg County Judge-Executive Hollis Alexander served as Master of Ceremonies, while James Thomas Chapter Regent Brenda Southwick made opening remarks and lead a Moment of Silence. Several others also participated in the hour-long ceremony, including the Pennyrile Honor Guard who posted and retired the Colors. The ceremony ended with the Placing of Wreath honoring all Veterans and the playing of Taps.
