Unemployment rates fell in eight of the nine counties in the Pennyrile District, and stayed the same in Lyon County between August 2017 and August 2018, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
The jobless rate fell to 4.4 percent in Caldwell County from 4.8 percent in August 2017.
In Christian County, the unemployment rate dropped to 5.5 percent, compared to 6.1 percent in August of last year.
Todd County’s jobless rate for August 2018 was 3.7 percent, down from 4.0 percent a year ago.
And the unemployment rate in Trigg County dropped to 4.3 percent, compared to 5.6 percent in August 2017.
The jobless rate for Lyon County remained the same from August of last year at 4.4 percent.
Across the Commonwealth, state officials report unemployment rates fell in 115 counties and rose in three counties. Magoffin County continued to record the state’s highest unemployment rate at 11.7 percent, while Boone, Campbell and Woodford counties recorded the lowest jobless rates in the state at 3.1 percent.
Unemployment statistics are based on estimates and are compiled to measure trends rather than actually count people working. They do not include unemployed Kentuckians who have not looked for employment within the past four weeks.
