Hopkinsville Man Charged With Wanton Endangerment

A Hopkinsville man is facing charges after police responded to a disturbance involving a knife on East 7th Street Friday night.

According to Hopkinsville Police, officers responded to a call shortly after 8:00 p.m. where an individual was trying to stab another individual in the 1400 block of East 7th Street. Upon arrival, officers found 52-year old Douglas Wells standing next to a vehicle with a female, and a baggie of marijuana on the ground about five feet from Wells. After the two were read their rights, police say the female stated that Wells had tried to give her the marijuana when officers pulled up but then threw it on the ground when she refused to take it. A K-9 unit also reportedly hit on the vehicle police note Wells had been driving prior to the arrival of officers. Police say they seized six grams of marijuana and a locking blade knife.

Wells was charged with 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment, Possession of Marijuana, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
