Christian County Fiscal Court is moving forward with renovations to the courthouse annex, which includes the Alhambra Theatre. County Treasurer, Walter Cummings described those improvements.
He says this has been a problem for a long time, even prompting renovations and remodel inside a couple years ago.
Project Consultant and retired architect, Jack Shah says the problem lies in the design.
There are two barrel roofs and a taller gable roof that also need to be replaced. Shah would like to see all the roofs removed so they can see what damage, if any is underneath, before adding new roofs. The Fiscal Court Tuesday approved a $30,000 contract with Chris Spurr to provide architectural services and oversee the bid process.
In other business, Fiscal Court passed a resolution asking the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to reconsider the summer pool on Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. Magistrate Darrell Gustafson spoke to the Court as a private citizen.
The last time the level was changed was in 1980. He says they tried 10 years ago, but he is hopeful there is enough support now.
Several other counties surrounding the lakes are considering similar resolutions and Trigg County has already passed one.
