SUMMARY:Youth Art Month Exhibit at the Alhambra Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Youth Art Month to Feature 170 Original Works from Local Students\nExhibit runs through March 31 at the Alhambra Theatre\n———\nOver 170 pieces of original artwork from Christian County’s next generation of artists will be displayed in the gallery and Main Street windows of the Alhambra Theatre as part of Youth Art Month in March.\nThe National Education Association has chosen March as a time to recognize and celebrate the creativity and artistic talents of our children. Art organizations and art educators are asked to come together to help local communities highlight art education and its value. In this spirit\, the Pennyroyal Arts Council will be hosting the Annual Youth Art Exhibit from March 1-March 31\, 2022\, at the Alhambra Theatre with support from the Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club. Last year’s exhibit was virtual and in the past the event has taken place at Hopkinsville Community College.\nView the Work:\nThe exhibit will be available to the publicthrough March 31 during business hours of Tuesday-Thursday\, 8:30 am -3:00 pm and available to view during the following March events at the theatre: Newsies\, Dancing With Our Stars\, and Harriet Tubman:The One Woman Show. Small groups\, clubs\, and students are welcome. Admission is free.\nFor additional information regarding the event\, contact Molly Campbell at molly.campbell@pennyroyalarts.org

SUMMARY:Hopper Host Families Needed!
DESCRIPTION:The HOST FAMILY program is a vital part of every collegiate summer league team across the country. The Hoptown Hoppers are looking for generous families willing to open their homes to our players for the 2022 summer season. Currently\, we have Hoppers scheduled to come from 21 colleges in 12 states and 5 countries and are looking forward to another great season. Here is what the Host Family Program is all about…\nHost families take a player(s) into their home over the course of nine weeks during the season. Players arrive at the end of May and generally stay through the end of July (depending on playoffs – May 29 until August 1). As a host family\, it would be your responsibility to provide your player with a stable\, clean\, and healthy environment for the duration of the summer. Because many of the players will be stretched financially during the summer\, host families with the ability\, means\, and thoughtfulness to provide a few meals (and maybe that favorite color of Gatorade) each week to their players would be greatly appreciated – but not required.\nAbout the Host Family program: \n\nThe ideal numbers of players per host family is two\, although one is GREAT as well. In fact MOST of our players are placed as ‘singles’. They should each have their own bed.\nPlayers arrange their own transportation to and from the ballpark\, if they do not have transportation\, we will help set up a car pool.\nPlayers need access to a washer and dryer. They are responsible to do their OWN laundry.\nA little refrigerator space is great as well.\nBe aware that players return home from games between 10:30pm-1:00am\nKeep in mind these will be college students between the ages of 18-22\n\n \nEach player in the Ohio Valley League is pursuing his dream of someday playing Major League Baseball. Players are recruited through their college baseball coaches\, and all of them have agreed to maintain impeccable moral standards\, abide by NCAA guidelines\, and be a role model to our fans and our community. If any player’s actions\, on or off the field\, are not congruent with these standards\, we will ask them to pack their bags and return home. We believe that living in a family’s home is a privilege the players should respect and appreciate that privilege.\nThe benefits to committing to the host family program are significant. First and foremost\, you would be assisting young men in their pursuit of their dreams … playing professional baseball. Many players and families form a bond that extends well beyond one summer of baseball in Hopkinsville.\nAdditional Benefits: \n\nSeason tickets for your immediate family\nRecognition at a Game Day ceremony\nInvitation to a team sponsored Welcome “Event’\nDiscount on your Hopper Game Day merchandise\n\nBecoming a host family for the summer is a big responsibility. Therefore\, we will make our players and our host families as compatible as possible to avoid potential problems. Final matches will be made as early in May as possible. We like to have you in contact with your Hopper as soon as possible. We realize it is fun to get to know them and perhaps even follow their current college season if possible. We certainly appreciate your interest in the Hoptown Hopper Host Family Program. Thank you and Welcome to the team!\nTo talk further or to get answers to any question(s) – contact our Hoptown Hopper Host Family Volunteer Coordinator\, Jamie Folz at 270.889.7909 or: jamie.folz@gmail.com\nAdditionally\, you may contact Hoptown Hopper General Manager Ted Jatczak at 270.484.0466 or: gm@hoptownhoppers.org
