DESCRIPTION:October 22\, 2022\nRegistration Now Open\nAmelia’s Run (formerly known as The Amelia B Wilson LBL Run) for 2022 will feature a 10km\, 5km\, and Kid’s Run. It remains under the direction of Durbin Race Management\, and is hosted by the incredible volunteers from the Grand Rivers area; most of whom knew and loved Amelia Wilson.\nThe race is in honor of a spectacular woman\, Amelia Brown Wilson\, who was taken way too soon. She was a staple of the Grand Rivers community. The race is being used as a fundraiser for an organization she believed in and worked so hard for; the Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA). Amelia was an organ recipient early in life and unfortunately lost her life due to complications later in life (but way too soon at 39 years old).\nFall running at Land Between the Lakes and Grand Rivers KY is stunningly beautiful. This year’s race will feature the same 10km course\, a new 5km course\, and a Kid’s Fun Run!! The Kid’s race will be between 1km and 1 mile in length\nIf you can’t attend in person\, you can still show your support by participating virtually! Choose the virtual option when registering\, submit your results\, and we’ll send your finisher’s award and shirt to you.

Proceed to the Lyon County School parking lot and line up per instructions from Parade Coordinators\, Mike Oliver and EPD Chief Brooks Dixon. No support vehicles will be allowed at the school due to limited space. If you need to drop off a rider/participant\, please do so from Fairview Avenue but do not enter the school parking lot. There will be someone at Eddyville First Baptist as well to assist with getting the parade participants ready to go to school parking lot for line up.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nFounders Week Street Closures will be as follows:\n\n\nThursday August 25th – West Dale between Commerce Street & West Main (between City Park and Judicial Center) starting Thursday\, August 25th\, 7:00 am thru Sunday\, August 28th\, will be closed to allow for stage and vendor set up.\n\n\nFriday August 26th – West Main from Trade Avenue to West Fairview Avenue starting at 4:00 pm will be closed to allow for the car show and vender set up. This street will re-open at 8:00 pm.\n\n\nSaturday August 27th – West Main Street will be closed from Trade Avenue to West Fairview Avenue starting at 7:00 am. West Dale from Rainbow Cleaners to West Main will also be closed to allow the set-up of the Inflatable Playground for the children.\n\n\nThe Parade Route will be on West Fairview Avenue from Lyon County Schools to West Main Street starting at 11:00 am to the end of the parade.\n\n\nWe appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation of these street closures and the inconveniences of affected businesses\, to allow for a safe Founders Day Celebration. DESCRIPTION:The family of bell hooks is proud to announce the revealing and dedication of a new mural in downtown Hopkinsville.  The mural features a portrait of bell\, strikingly similar to a mural that is prominently displayed in the city of Berea\, Kentucky and was the inspiration behind this latest artistic addition to the west wall of the Christian County Historical Society.\nThe mural reveal and dedication ceremony is scheduled for Saturday\, August 27\, 2022 at 10:30 AM at the Christian County Historical Society located at 306 East 9th Street in downtown Hopkinsville.  The public is invited to the ceremony where they will learn more about the life and legacy of bell hooks as well as additional upcoming community activities planned in honor and in celebration of bell and her many contributions.   \nThe mural was created by professional artist Ms. Paula Gieseke and her partner\, Josh Warfield.  This mural recognizes and honors bell’s role as an American author\, a feminist\, a social activist\, a distinguished professor and a Hopkinsville native.     \n

SUMMARY:Thru the Eyes of a Child Exhibit -Charles Alvin Lisanby Gallery
DESCRIPTION:This summer exhibit of our youngest Artists work was thought out over several months. My goal was to raise a little money for the Art Guild and\, more importantly\, get paint brushes in the hands of our children and allow them to create a show telling us what love\, peace\, kindness\, hope\, courage and strength mean to them through art.\nSeventy- nine young Artists (14 months – 13 years of age) donated a 6×6 canvas of their artwork to our summer fundraising event!\nEach piece of artwork is $15. When you make a purchase\, the child who painted the piece gets a one-year membership to the Guild House. That means they can paint other pieces and sell them in our members gallery throughout the year. How great is that?\nAll 79 young artists have their name in a basket for give-a-ways throughout the exhibit as well.\nEach young Artist has been individually highlighted on the Princeton Art Guild\,Inc Facebook page and the Thru the Eyes of a Child event page with photos of their artwork.\nTwo special events are planned for this show! Friday evening\, July 22nd\, 6-8pm\, we will be open for a special evening reception for the show. Light refreshments will be available. We will close the show with an evening event on Wednesday\, August 31st\, 2022\, 6-8pm where light refreshments will be available and anyone who has purchased a piece from the show can pick it up during this time.\nYou can stop by during our normal business hours: Tuesday – Friday\, 11am – 2pm\, to view the incredible work these children have done for this show! Check our Facebook page for Saturday openings and special event hours. It’s free to visit the Guild House. Stop by as often as you like and tell your friends to stop by and see us too!
