Hopkinsville City Council Ward 5 hopeful Marie Hughes is getting a few months under her belt before the November General Election.
Tuesday night, Mayor JR Knight swore Hughes in to fill the vacant seat of Amy Craig.
Council voted unanimously to bypass interview protocol as Hughes was the only one to apply for the seat.
She will face Republican Anna Norris in the General Election. Hughes is now the only democrat serving on the City Council.
