A Crofton man was charged after a boating accident on Lake Barkley near Bachman Turner Drive in Trigg County on Friday afternoon that sent a family member to a Nashville hospital with critical injuries.
According to an arrest citation by Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, 49-year-old Scotty Owens was operating a boat when the woman got out of the boat to secure a jet ski that was loose. The report says the woman was severely cut by the prop while trying to get back into the boat.
Trigg County emergency personnel say the woman was given CPR and rushed to Trigg County Hospital. She was later transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville with severe injuries to both legs.
The citation states that Scotty Owens showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and was arrested by law enforcement.
