Retired HPD Vet Sworn In As Trigg Schools SRO

The Cadiz Police Department gained even more local experience Tuesday morning, when Mayor Todd King swore in Jefferson Alexander as an up-and-coming resource officer for the Trigg County Schools.

The Goudeau, Louisiana native said he made his way to west Kentucky by way of the military and Fort Campbell. Following his service to country, he remained here and joined the Hopkinsville Police Department — where he’d jump through the ranks from 2000 until his retirement in 2020.

Also expected to serve on some city patrols, Alexander said it just wasn’t in him to stay on the sidelines for long.

From an experience perspective, Alexander believes he brings a lot. He spent seven years as an HPD detective working white-collar crimes and assaults, was promoted to sergeant and lieutenant, and dealt considerably with media and public relations.

There’s also a couple of skills he possesses that could particularly help out Trigg Schools.

Wiggins noted Alexander will be the district’s third SRO, working interchangeably this spring semester before moving into a more permanent and prominent role on campus in Fall 2023.

There’s a strong belief, Wiggins added, that Alexander has the right temperament to help assist children and faculty the right way.

With Alexander’s hire, the Cadiz Police Department is fully staffed.
