Hopkinsville Woman Charged In Wednesday Morning Shooting

A Hopkinsville woman has been charged after a shooting on East 18th Street near Woodmill Road in Hopkinsville Wednesday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they were called to the area after 45-year-old David Powell showed up at Jennie Stuart Medical Center with gunshot wounds and 28-year-old Taraneisha Quarles of Hopkinsville called reporting an altercation. Police say Quarles shot Powell four times and claimed she shot him because he was reaching for a bow.

Powell was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville but the extent of his injuries was unknown.

Quarles was arrested and charged with first-degree assault.

The incident was reported to police around 2:30 a.m.
