Two Killed Including Deputy In Marshall County Shooting

A Calloway County Sheriff’s deputy and a second person were killed in a shooting near the Marshall County Detention Center Monday afternoon.

Kentucky State Police say they were called to investigate an officer-involved shooting around 2 p.m. in the area of the Marshall County Detention Center.

A Calloway County Sheriff’s deputy was reportedly shot in the incident and transported to the hospital along with the second person. Police say they both were pronounced dead at the hospital.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear says “This deputy has paid the ultimate sacrifice today while serving our commonwealth. Let us honor the life, bravery, and service of this deputy.” Andy Beshear added “Britainy Beshear and I ask Kentuckians to join us in holding the family and loved ones of the Calloway County Deputy in their prayers,”

State Police say they are investigating the shooting. The Kentucky Transportation Committee says West 5th Street will remain blocked at the 100 block until after 7:30 pm.
