Authorities Continue Monitoring Air Quality After Landfill Fire

Authorities continue to monitor air quality after a fire at the Hopkinsville Solid Waste Authority on Mt-Zoar Latham Road Friday morning.

Christian County Emergency Manager Randy Graham says the Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection has reported no deviations in safe air quality levels through Friday night but will continue to monitor throughout the night.

Hopkinsville Fire Department spokesman Peyton Rogers says when they were originally called to the fire it was around 30 feet by 30 feet but quickly grew.

Rogers says no one was injured and no structures were damaged.

Hopkinsville Fire Department was assisted by Westside and Crofton fire departments.
