HES General Manager Estimates Up To 1,000 Customers Affected By Outage

Several power lines and utility poles were damaged when a possible tornado touched down in the east side of Hopkinsville’s business district causing power outages to hundreds of customers Saturday morning.

Hopkinsville Electric/EnergyNet General Manager Jeff Hurd says crews were still assessing the damage to determine where they need to begin to start with repairs.

He estimated up to 1,000 customers were without electricity.

Hurd also wants to remind everyone to be careful around any downed power lines and utility poles.

He says you can report any downed power lines by calling their Emergency Dispatch number at (270) 887-4219 in order for crews to be dispatched to the area to look at the lines.
