Inaugural Battle Of The First Responders Set for Saturday

The public will have a chance to meet first responders of the community and benefit the Supporting Heroes Program Saturday, at the inaugural Battle of the First Responders softball tournament.

The slow pitch, co-ed softball tournament will begin Saturday morning at 8:30 at Tie-Breaker Park.

Hopkinsville Police Officer Jeremy Davidson says the tournament is a way to raise money for a cause that holds a special place with him.

Davidson said he received the support of the Louisville-based Supporting Heroes program that serves first responders in Kentucky, Indiana, and Missouri. They provide financial and peer support for first responders and families that are killed or seriously injured in the line of duty.

Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Nichols says representatives with Supporting Heroes will be on-site Saturday.
