Trigg School Buses Successful In Navigating Routes Around Road Closures

With heavy traffic rerouted off I-24 that caused a tractor-trailer to overturn on the Princeton Road Tuesday morning just hours before the start of school, the Trigg County Schools’ transportation department had to do some extra work to make sure bus routes were completed and students transported to school.

Transportation Director Erin Eagleson said the bus drivers were able to complete their routes without incident this morning.

click to download audioEagleson said bus drivers encounter possible route changes due to winter weather and that helps them prepare for an incident like Tuesday when a main county route was shut down. However, he said winter weather gives them more notice to prepare.

click to download audioEagleson said about 8-10 bus routes were affected by Tuesday’s traffic. He added the use of a mobile app for group communication helped with the planning and execution of the bus routes.
