The season 17 winner of ‘The Voice’ talent competition TV show will be the headlining musical act at this year’s Trigg County Country Ham Festival.

Texas native Jake Hoot will take to the main stage on Saturday, October 9 with the venue site still in the planning stage.

During its Tuesday meeting, the ham festival committee heard a report from talent and entertainment chair Brooke Bailey Abner. She said a combination of funds given to the festival by the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism Commission and local sponsorships allowed them to book Hoot as the headlining act.

Hoot was named the winner of the 17th season of The Voice in December 2019. His coach was Kelly Clarkson, with who he teamed to release the song “I Would Have Loved You” earlier this year.

Hoot, who attended Tennessee Tech University, made his Grand Ole Opry debut in February 2020.

Opening for Hoot will be Nashville singer Adam Warner who fans that attend Tennessee Titans games at Nissan Stadium may recognize as the singer of “Welcome to the South” that’s part of the pregame show.

The Illinois native has opened for Lee Brice, American Young, Trace Adkins, Neil McCoy, and Darrell Singletary in recent years.

Abner said they are looking to move the Saturday night concert traditionally held at the Renaissance Square near city hall to a larger area near West Cadiz Park that will allow for a larger stage and more seating. She added they may offer VIP seating and a chance for a pre-concert meet and greet as a way to offset entertainment costs.

The festival still plans to offer live music at the Renaissance Stage on both Friday and Saturday.

In other business, Main Street Manager Casey Parrent said about half of the 215 festival vendors have prepaid although there is some hesitancy with the recent increase in COVID-19 cases.
