Trigg County Historical Society Earns Grant From Kentucky Colonels

The Trigg County Historical Society received a considerable financial boon on Tuesday, when it was awarded a grant from the Kentucky Colonels — totaling $7,808.

TCHS President Bob Brame said the specific monies will greatly impact any future success of the newly renovated Trigg County History Museum on Jefferson Street — not only allowing for better presentation of local stories, but also providing an improved gathering place for meetings, organized programs and symposiums.

Brame said the process for such a grant began in 2020 through the efforts of secretary Linda Wood. And with the Kentucky Colonels limiting its one-time awards to detailed mission-based improvements, TCHS didn’t earn a grant last year, as the coronavirus playing a large factor.

But Brame noted the organization was asked to once again deliver its proposal, and the lift couldn’t come at a better time. TCHS is currently preparing its first exhibit “Between the Rivers,” which Brame added will have more detail in the coming weeks.

Devoted to the history of the county and all of its nuance, the TCHS keeps trying to move forward with its message of historical preservation, and a grant of this magnitude only helps expedite the process.
