No Changes in Health Insurance for Christian County Employees

Christian County magistrates learned during Tuesday’s fiscal court meeting; there would not need to be any changes made to the county’s health insurance contribution or premiums for the next year.

Mac Major with Higgins Insurance said county employee health insurance claims have not been high this fiscal year, even as claim costs rose about ten percent from the previous claim year.

Major added there is a $130,000 surplus from the last nine months in the insurance fund for county employees.

The recommendation to not raise the county or employee contributions or make any changes to benefits was approved unanimously by magistrates.

Magistrates also approved a lease agreement with the Kentucky Association of Counties for the sheriff’s office vehicle replacement program. Sheriff Tyler DeArmond said vehicles last three or four years before they are replaced through the program.
