Kentucky Unemployment Recipients May Be Able to Apply for Over-payment Waiver

If you received more unemployment than entitled for almost any point last year, you might be able to apply for an over-payment waiver.

Buddy Hoskinson, executive director for the Kentucky Office of Unemployment, told the Pennyrile Area Development board of directors Monday that Senate Bill 7 was recently passed.

He said the waiver is only for over-payments made between January 27 to December 31, 2020.

Hoskinson added that up until recently, they had to approve every over-payment waiver individually.

The way to request an over-payment waiver will soon be available on the state’s unemployment website.

Hoskinson said the request form would not ask for any banking information.

The letters for over-payment are expected to go out beginning next week, and those who receive them will only have 30 days to apply for a waiver.
