Governor Beshear Says Certain Restrictions Will Be Lifted After Hitting Vaccination Goal

Governor Andy Beshear announced Monday a new program to encourage Kentuckians to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

Beshear said the Team Kentucky Vaccination Challenge asks that 2.5 million residents get at least their first dose of a COVID vaccination. In return, he will remove capacity restrictions and physical distancing requirements for nearly all venues, events, and businesses that cater to 1,000 or fewer patrons and end the curfew for bars and restaurants when the goal is met.

Beshear added the businesses facing restrictions should reach out and make sure everyone they know is vaccinated.

Governor Beshear announced the news while helping kick off the state’s largest vaccination site to date at Cardinal Stadium in Louisville. The drive-through site is expected to vaccinate around 200,000 people.
