Cadiz City Council Hears First Reading Of Two Budgets

City Clerk Brian Ahart

Cadiz City Council heard the first reading of two budgets Tuesday evening, including an amended current budget and the 2021-22 fiscal year budget.

City Clerk Brian Ahart told council members the revisions to the 2020-21 budget included changes to the amount of money being brought into the city.

Total revenue to the city, according to the budget, is over $10.2 million, nearly $5 million more than normal, with the excess money coming in for the water treatment plant that recently opened on the east side of Cadiz.

The amended budget featured several changes, with the biggest change coming to the expected revenues for intergovernmental funds, showing an increase of $240,000.

Ahart also presented the city’s budget for the next fiscal year.

The city’s total expected revenue is an estimated $5.5 million, with over $2.6 million of the funding expected from taxes, licenses, and permits.

Both budgets can be found here, with council members expected to pass both during their May meeting.
