A bond hearing was held Friday afternoon in the case of a Texas man charged with the murder of a former Fort Campbell soldier in Trigg County.

Christopher Swykert appeared virtually with defense attorney Bill Deatherage before Trigg Circuit Court Judge C.A. Woodall Friday afternoon.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins tells the News Edge the defendant asked for a bond reduction.

Swykert is lodged in the Christian County Jail under a $1 million bond.

Swygert is charged with murder and DUI after state police said he was southbound on The Trace on June 20, 2020, failed to navigate a curve, and ran off the road. Swykert’s vehicle overturned and crashed into a tree.

Police said 19-year-old Harry Daniel Kincaid of Houston was killed in the crash.
