Christian County Adds 43 Active COVID-19 Cases Wednesday

Officials with the Christian County Health Department reported 43 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday.

Spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney said the active case count is up to 584, with 357 between the age of 22 and 59. Also, 130 are 60 or older and 97 are 21 or younger.

Christian County has reported 4,672 recoveries and 74 deaths since the pandemic began.

According to the state’s COVID-19 reporting website, there are five new students and six new staff in the Christian County Public School System that has tested positive with two staff members in quarantine. The state also reported 65 active cases involving residents of long-term care facilities and 43 involving staff.

Sweeney said the health department’s vaccination schedule for people 70 and older is full for the remainder of this week. She said vaccines are given by appointment only at the Bruce Convention Center with appointment scheduling done on a first-come, first-serve basis. Appointments for the 100 doses remaining this week have been filled. She said the health department will notify the public when more vaccines are available.
