Christian County Magistrates Approve To Apply For More CARES Act Funding

Christian County Fiscal Court magistrates approved to apply for the final payment for round one of CARES Act funding Wednesday morning.

Judge-Executive Steve Tribble said the first round included around $2.4 million.

Magistrates also approved to apply for another payment from the state CARES Act funding, which Governor Andy Beshear recently announced was available for local governments. Out of the $50 million being distributed across the Commonwealth, Christian County government will see $812,541.

The City of Hopkinsville will also see some funding from the CARES Act from Governor Beshear.

Magistrates also approved to accept ownership of the recently renovated Hopkinsville Carnegie Library building at 708 Liberty Street. Magistrate Darrell Gustafson said the building would continue to be leased to the organization that uses it until a permanent use for the building is established.

Christian County magistrates will meet again Tuesday morning, January 12, at 8:30. Whether that meeting will be in-person or virtual has yet to be determined.
