Accused Porch Thieves Charged In Hopkinsville Burglary

A man and woman charged with stealing packages off porches were arrested on burglary charges just a day after being released from jail on those charges.

Hopkinsville Police say 31-year-old Holly Burns, of Dawson Springs, and 36-year-old Scott Ethridge, of Hopkinsville, were seen taking packages off of porches in the area of West 2nd Street and Riverfront Drive Wednesday morning.

They were reportedly located on South Main Street and after a search of Burns’s backpack, a small amount of meth was found. They were both charged with theft of mail matter and Burns was also charged with possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.

According to the Christian County Jail, they both were released on Wednesday and arrested again on warrants for burglary Thursday afternoon.

Police say they were seen on surveillance video entering a Hopkinsville business Wednesday through a loading dock and removing merchandise valued at $450.

They are both lodged at the Christian County Jail on charges of third-degree burglary.
