Cadiz Woman Arraigned on Manslaughter Charges

A Cadiz woman indicted in connection to a house fire in April that killed her two small children appeared in Trigg County Circuit Court for her arraignment Wednesday afternoon.

Keyona Bingham and her public defender Mary Rohrer appeared before Judge C.A. “Woody” Woodall and entered a not guilty plea to two counts of second-degree manslaughter.

Judge Woodall set a pretrial conference for 1:00 the afternoon of December 9th.

On April 7, 2020, state police said Bingham left her two children, three-year old Kamari Harris and seven-month-old Ky’nylee Harris, at home alone and went to a family member’s home three blocks away to get a Lortab tablet. When she returned, she told police the house was in flames. The state fire marshal investigated the fire with no cause released.

After Bingham was questioned by state police, she was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment. She was indicted by a Trigg County grand jury in September on the manslaughter charges. Bingham could face 5-10 years in prison if convicted.
