Beshear Family Still in Quarantine After Testing Negative For COVID

Governor Andy Beshear said he and his family tested negative for COVID-19 Tuesday.

The tests come after he and his family were quarantined Sunday after learning a member of his security detail had tested positive Saturday. The governor said he and his family will be tested again on Friday.

At the governor’s daily COVID-19 briefing Tuesday, Kentucky Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack presented the White House Report, which he says shows Kentucky is in the red, critical zone of COVID cases.

He added the federal government shows 41 of Kentucky’s 120 counties are in the top two zones — red and orange.

Dr. Stack said this is very concerning and residents need to keep up efforts and keep the work to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the harm it causes.

Governor Andy Beshear reported 776 new COVID cases Monday as they continue to look for some stabilization of the number of cases.

Of the 776 cases, he added 111 are among those 18 years old and younger.He also said there is a little concern about movement in hospitalizations and intensive care units. He added thus far it’s not affecting the state’s capacity, but it is going up.

Governor Beshear also reported 14 deaths Tuesday.He said more than 1.7 million tests have been administered and the state’s positivity rate is up slightly to 4.59%.
