Christian County’s COVID-19 Incidence Rate In The Critical Category Again

The Christian County Health Department reported Wednesday the county is back in the critical, red category due to an increase in COVID-19 cases.

Spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney said the county’s incidence rate is at 27, which puts the county in the critical, red category according to the Kentucky Incidence Rating System.

In addition, Sweeney said the combined total of testing conducted at Tie Breaker Park and Jennie Stuart Health is 19,914. She pointed out the current positivity rate, only for tests conducted at Tie Breaker Park, for the month of October is 10.72% compared to September’s positivity rate of 8.77%.

According to the health department’s report, Christian County has a total of 1,493 COVID-19 cases. Of those cases, 211 are active, 1,256 have recovered and the county has had 26 deaths related to the virus.

Sweeney said as they reflect on the county’s weekly increases over the last several weeks, the county saw that the week of October 3rd was the 2nd highest week yet for increased cases with a total of 137. She added the week of October 3rd was surpassed only by the week of September 19th where the county saw an increase of 150 cases.

In order to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases, officials at the health department ar asking everyone to continue to follow health guidelines and regulations regarding COVID-19. In addition, officials said the Christian County Health Department will enforce regulations within facilities they regulate such as restaurants, hotels, tattoo studios, etc.
