Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson has released the name of the woman who died early Thursday morning in a house fire on Will Jackson Road.
Vinson says 81-year-old Ilene Barnett was found inside her home following the fire that began shortly after midnight. Kentucky State Police say an autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning at the state medical examiner’s office in Louisville.
Trigg-Lyon firefighters were called to the report of a house fire in the area of the 6000 block of Will Jackson Road near the Reddick Pond Road intersection just before midnight. The home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
The home is reported to be a total loss along with a car that was parked next to the home.
Kentucky State Police and state fire marshals from Bowling Green are continuing to investigate the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
