One Dead, One Injured in Calloway County Crash

A Murray woman was killed in a two-vehicle wreck in Calloway County Wednesday morning.

Kentucky State Police troopers responded to the crash at the intersection of KY 80 East on KY 783 northwest of Murray shortly after 9:00. State Police say an initial investigation shows 82-year old Bobbie Bibb was traveling south on KY 783 when she failed to yield to oncoming traffic and a truck driven by 49-year old Kenneth Charles of Puryear, Tennessee collided with the driver’s side door of Bibb’s car. Bibb’s car then rotated counter-clockwise, crossed into the eastbound left-turn lane on KY 80, and came to a stop.

Bibb was transported by ambulance to Murray-Calloway County Hospital where she later died from her injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Calloway County Coroner. A passenger in Charles’ vehicle, 45-year old Angela Charles, also of Puryear, was also taken to the same hospital and was treated and released.

Police say Bibb and Angela Charles were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, but Kenneth Charles was not buckled up.

State police are continuing to investigate the fatal crash.
