Cadiz Woman Charged with Drug Trafficking in Caldwell County

A Cadiz woman is facing several charges, including drug trafficking, following a traffic stop in Caldwell County over the weekend.

Caldwell County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Chris Noel states while patrolling the area of Cadiz Road just before nine Friday night a deputy observed a vehicle with one headlight illuminated. He adds after the vehicle passed the deputy the headlights reportedly went to bright and remained on bright. The deputy then turned around and conducted a traffic stop at Red Hill Road and Blue Springs, making contact with the driver, 20-year-old Deja Murphy.

Upon further investigation at the scene, and following a search of the vehicle, a significant amount of suspected marijuana, cash, and a handgun were found.

Murphy was taken into custody and charged with her first offense of trafficking marijuana – 8 ounces to less than five pounds, firearm enhanced, drug paraphernalia buying or possessing, and tampering with physical evidence, as well as several other vehicle related charges.

Murphy was then lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
